PM: Rising Oil Prices are Partly Due to the War Between Ukraine and Russia

TAKEO: Prime Minister Hun Sen says the current rise in world oil prices is partly due to the effects of the war between Ukraine and Russia. He made this statement while speaking at the inauguration ceremony of the 134-km-long new stretch of National Road No. 3 between Phnom Penh-Kampot on Wednesday morning.

The Prime Minister said, "Russia is also one of the largest countries in the world. The effects of the Russia-Ukraine war have made the global economy, which is currently plagued by Covid-19, even more difficult."

He further added, "Oil prices are not only rising in Cambodia, they are rising worldwide, we are not a country who produces oil, even the country which produces oil is facing rising oil prices."

The current price of petrol in Cambodia is 4,800 riel for regular gasoline and 4,500 riel for diesel. This is the fifth increase in oil prices since the start of 2022.
